Former WWE Star Teases Return For NXT General Manager Role WWE

A former WWE star has teased having interest in the taking the NXT General Manager role following Ava’s departure from the company.

On Friday, January 30, NXT General Manager Ava took to social media to announce her departure from WWE, after opting not to renew her contract.

As a result, last night’s NXT saw Shawn Michaels name Robert Stone as the new authority figure on the brand, albeit on an interim basis.

While there is no indication as to how long Stone will be in the interim role, or whether he could potentially become GM full-time afterwards, one former WWE star has seemingly thrown her own name in the hat for the position.

Posting to Twitter in reaction to the clip of HBK naming Stone as Interim NXT GM, former WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion Carmella wrote:

Hmmmmm

One star who seems fully on board with Carmella’s potential return was Monday Night Raw’s Bayley, who implored WWE to “give her what she wants” and appoint Carmella as NXT GM.

Posting to Twitter, Bayley wrote:

Carmella departed WWE in February 2025 after her contract expired, two years after her last match with the company in March 2023 – during which time she gave birth to her and Corey Graves’ first child together. The couple have since welcomed another new addition to their family in late 2025, with the birth of their second son Bram.

We will provide any further updates on WWE NXT’s search for a full-time GM as they become available.
