A former WWE star has captured the world championship in another promotion during a show last night (January 11).
Former WWE United States Champion Matt Riddle was released from the company back in September 2023, with him going on to make numerous appearances in outside companies following his departure.
On top of appearances for both TNA and New Japan Pro Wrestling, Riddle has been signed to MLW, where he has accomplished a number of feats, including winning last year’s Battle Riot.
At last night’s MLW Kings of Colosseum show, Riddle challenged MLW World Heavyweight Champion Satoshi Kojima for the championship in the main event.
Riddle went on to beat Kojima, becoming the new MLW World Heavyweight Champion, and capturing his first world championship since his WWE departure back in 2023.
Riddle wasn’t the only recently departed WWE name to wrestle on the show, as Donovan Dijak was also on the show, facing off against KENTA.
