Tonight’s WWE NXT saw the return of several former stars as the brand went to the home of ECW, the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia.
Welcoming back several notable names from ECW’s history, NXT gave a nod to the past on tonight’s November 6 episode.
The first match of the night saw ECW alum Dawn Marie as the special guest referee where she would eventually call the pinfall victory in favor of Jaida Parker over Lola Vice in their hardcore match.
Later, there was an appearance from NXT and WWE legend Rob Van Dam who was set to meet with Ava before he was attacked by Wes Lee.
When Lee faced Je’Von Evans later, RVD would make a surprise entrance and encourage Evans who would eventually pick up the pinfall victory in the match.
NXT general manager Ava came out accompanied by Robert Stone and Stevie Turner to announce the next premium live event for the brand.
On Saturday, December 7th, WWE Deadline returns as the next premium live event will be held in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
After Ava made the announcement, Robert Stone would go on to deride the Philadelphia crowd (noting that Ava was wrong, New York and Boston fans were even more passionate than those in Philly), but he got an unwelcome surprise.
Rhyno appeared in the ring and would go on to deliver a Gore to Robert Stone to end the segment.
Also, Bubba Ray Dudley made his in-ring return in a tag team match with Trick Williams taking on Ridge Holland and Ethan Page.
Holland scored the pinfall over Williams, likely earning Holland a future shot at the NXT Championship.
After the match though, Williams and Bubba Ray attacked Ethan Page with the help of a surprise appearance from D’Von Dudley.
Still to come, an appearance from Francine, and Nunzio challenges Tony D’Angelo for the NXT North American Championship.
