Former WWE Star Says Tony Khan Is ‘Aware’ Of His Interest In Joining AEW WWE/AEW

After his recent departure, former WWE star Donovan Dijak has commented on his recent AEW backstage visit at Forbidden Door.

On June 27, Dijak took to social media to post a letter formally announcing his departure from WWE when his contract expired on June 28, 2024.

Since then, the former NXT standout has made his first post-WWE appearance and announced several bookings for various independent promotions.

The former WWE star later revealed and thanked Tony Khan for allowing him to visit backstage at the AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door pay-per-view on Sunday, June 30.

In a new interview with Forbes, Dijak revealed his representatives at Paragon Talent Group arranged for him to visit AEW at their recent show. When asked who invited him to the event, he said:

“Nobody. I showed up uninvited (laughs)… I don’t know if anything needs to be approved by Tony [Khan] specifically or if they just kind of have people going in and out.”

“But I know that Tony has been made aware of my interest, and I know that there’s reciprocal respect if nothing else.”

Dijak also emphasised that there is a “reciprocal respect” between himself and AEW President Tony Khan.

The recently departed WWE star also responded to fans upset about his comments on being booked on WWE Main Event, which you can read at this link.
