MLW has announced, via Sports Illustrated, that former WWE writer, Chris DeJoseph has joined their production team as a co-executive producer. DeJoseph most recently worked for Lucha Underground in a similar role.
He was also the co-creator of Lucha Underground. Lucha Underground introduced a lot of the US to some wrestlers who have gone on to become huge stars.
Pentagon Jr., Rey Fenix, Brian Cage, Ricochet, and Isaiah “Swerve” Strickland were all members of the LU roster at different points of time. Not only was the roster pretty stacked, but you can see the influences of some of the storytelling in other companies since its inception.
DeJoseph had the following to say:
“Since the last season of Lucha Underground, I’ve had an itch to get back in the game. I’ve been watching what they’ve been doing and the steps they are taking to keep building, and I can’t wait to get my hands dirty with MLW.”
MLW CEO Court Bauer confirmed the hire to Sports Illustrated. Bauer stated that DeJoseph will start with the company this Saturday when MLW goes live with their first pay-per-view.
MLW is hosting Saturday Super Fight this Saturday. The show is available in the US and Canada via traditional pay-per-view. The show is only $19.95 and is a great value.
