On August 7 a motorcycle rally kicked off in Sturgis, South Dakota. One of the musical acts performing at the event was the Chris Jericho-led band, Fozzy. Now, a number of COVID-19 cases have been reported as a result of the gathering.
NBC News is reporting that seven people have tested positive for COVID-19. The cases have appeared across state lines in Nebraska. The event drew over 450,000 people despite pushback from local residents for fear of spreading the virus.
Chris Jericho also faced backlash for his band appearing at the show. At the time, he ensured people that protocols were being followed to limit the spread of the virus. While those in attendance may have had their temperatures checked, photos and videos show there were no social distancing measures in place.
Jericho has responded to the news as well. He took to Twitter to dismiss the number, stating only seven cases exist out of 450,000 people.

While that may seem like a minuscule number, odds are not all of the attendees have been tested.
The band Smash Mouth also appeared at the event. They also received backlash after their frontman exclaimed “We’re all here together tonight. F*** that COVID s***.”
