Freddie Prinze Jr. Explains Why CM Punk Hated What John Cena Represented In WWE WWE

Freddie Prinze Jr. has explained why CM Punk hated what John Cena represented in WWE.

CM Punk has caused some backstage drama in AEW after developing real life heat with Hangman Page, stemming from their rivalry ahead of Double Or Nothing 2022.

Speaking on the Wrestling With Freddie podcast, Prinze Jr. discussed the recent reports of CM Punk’s heat and talked about the AEW star’s time in WWE, including his hatred for John Cena.

In regards to Punk hating Cena, he said:

“He (Punk) wasn’t loved at WWE. Not all of it was his fault, but I do remember this. Punk hated John Cena. Not hated him, but hated what he represented and that’s what the company was behind.”

Prinze Jr. continued on

“I remember one time Hunter saying, ‘As different as they are, the reason he hates John so much is because he knows if he was in that same spot, he would act the exact same way.’ This is over a decade ago, and to hear the rumblings of AEW basically saying he’s acting the way John Cena did back then is just like, I mean, damn near everything I disagreed with Hunter on, he was right. He just knows, man.”

CM Punk came up short against Jon Moxley losing the AEW World Championship on the August 24 episode of Dynamite.
