Following a surprise appearance on this week’s AEW Dynamite: Maximum Carnage (January 15), there has been a big update on the contract status of Megan Bayne.
Bayne made her first-ever Dynamite appearance at Wednesday’s show in Cincinnati, OH – taking part in the Casino Gauntlet match for a shot at Mariah May’s AEW Women’s World Title at Grand Slam Australia.
While not successful in the bout, it was a welcome sight for fans of the 26-year-old, who’s status within the company had been the subject of much confusion throughout 2024.
In November 2023, it was reported that Bayne had signed with AEW following several appearances on Dark and Dark Elevation, however, would not make a single AEW appearance afterwards – with her last match coming in June 2023.
Despite creative pitches reportedly being made, it was revealed by Fightful Select in June 2024 that Bayne was no longer under contract in the company, according to sources close to Bayne.
However, a new update has revealed information to the contrary, with an AEW source telling Fightful Select that Bayne has in fact been under contract throughout the entirety of her absence.
Sean Ross Sapp was told by AEW that Bayne is signed to the company for “quite some time” and is set to remain on TV.
We will provide further updates on Bayne’s AEW contract status during her previous absence when more information become available.
