A free agent is believed to be set to join AEW following their recent contract expiration after WWE reportedly ‘had their eye’ on them.
STARDOM’s Thekla finished up with the company at the All-Star Grand Queendom event last week, when she was defeated Sayaka Kurara before being “fired” by president Taro Okada.
Thekla’s firing was used as a way to end her time in the promotion, with her agreement now expired and her set to effectively head to the United States, which has reportedly been planned for quite a while.
In an update on her future from Fightful Select (subscription required), when WWE sources were asked about Thekla, Fightful was told that, among other talent that had made their name in Japan around the time of Giulia’s signing, they ‘had their eye on here’.
There was also reportedly heavy interest from AEW in her towards the end of 2024, in addition to a number of independent companies inquiring to Fightful if she was taking any upcoming bookings.
Those within AEW that Fightful spoke to believe that she is headed to the company.
Thekla was a part of the Mafia Bella tag team during her time in STARDOM alongside Giulia prior to her departure to join WWE.
