Report: Major Free Agent’s Move To WWE Breaks Down WWE

Despite signing a great deal of talent in the latter half of 2022, WWE have yet to make a single signing in 2023, with the company said to be in the middle of an ‘unofficial hiring freeze’ according to multiple outlets.

While this was obviously affecting WWE bringing in notable free agents this year, what about deals agreed prior to this ‘hiring freeze’ beginning?

One such name that has seemed nailed on to be signing with WWE for a while is Colby Corino, son of current WWE trainer Steve Corino.

Corino’s WWE move was set to be made official as of him finishing up with the NWA, with his contract expiring on January 1.

While it was believed that Corino was signed due to a previous report from Bodyslam.net, it has now been revealed that was never actually the case.

In a new report from Bodyslam, Corino’s status has been revealed and it seems that he is in fact currently a free agent.

Bodyslam reports that while a contract was indeed offered to Corino, with both parties agreeing the terms of it, the ‘hiring freeze’ caused this deal to never actually get officially signed.

Corino was originally set to report to the WWE Performance Center by March.

However, it is now unclear whether he will eventually renegotiate with the company, with no new updates on the ‘freeze’ on new signings ending anytime soon.

Corino was announced as the next guest on Matt Koon’s new podcast (the former co-host of Dax Harwood’s podcast), which likely says something about his free agent status:
