AEW name and wrestling veteran Jake Roberts has expressed frustration over the company’s booking of Lance Archer.
While Archer regularly picks up victories on AEW Dark and Dark: Elevation, his most recent TV victory came on the April 29 edition of Dynamite, defeating Serpentico in under a minute. The former IWGP US Champion hasn’t had his arm raised on Dynamite since the January 19 episode, on which he defeated Frankie Kazarian in singles action.
Outside of the lead-up to his AEW World Title match in early February, Archer arguably hasn’t been presented as a top star in AEW for some time.
Speaking on DDP Snake Pit, Jake Roberts discussed Archer’s position on the card, noting:
“It is so frustrating for me to see Lance in the spot that he is in. He’s such a phenomenal athlete, he’s in such great shape, he’s got an unbelievable look. The only thing Lance doesn’t do really well is talk and that’s why they brought me.”
Roberts was first paired with Archer in March 2020. The WWE Hall of Famer recently shot down rumors that he was in bad health, following his previous medical issues.
Archer has been announced as one of the 28 participants slated to compete in this year’s G1 Climax tournament.
