FTR IWGP Tag Team Title Match Added To NJPW Battle Autumn AEW

FTR will defend the IWGP Tag Team Championship at NJPW Battle Autumn on November 5 in their ‘long-awaited Japanese NJPW debut.’

The team of Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler won the IWGP Tag Team Titles at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door on June 26, 2022, in a three-way match against the then-champions United Empire (Jeff Cobb and Great-O-Khan) and Roppongi Vice (Rocky Romero and Trent Barreta).

The AEW stars most recently defended their IWGP gold against Kyle Fletcher and Mark Davis Aussie Open in an instant classic at Royal Quest II Night One on October 1.

The official NJPW website has listed the card for the November 5 Battle Autumn show, revealing that FTR will face United Empire’s Jeff Cobb and Great-O-Khan.

NJPW shared the following preview for the bout:

“FTR make their long awaited Japanese NJPW debuts in Osaka to put the IWGP tag team Championships on the line against Jeff Cobb and Great-O-Khan. What should arguably have been an open and shut case for an FTR title defence ended up with a few more twists in the tale for the United Empire side.

“The former IWGP Tag champions lost their titles without being pinned as FTR seized gold by defeating Roppongi Vice in a three way match at Forbidden Door. Cobb and O-Khan were justified in demanding a rematch, but were first confronted by more former champions, first in Bad Luck Fale and Chase Owens, and then Hirooki Goto and YOSHI-HASHI.

In the meantime, FTR defended their titles in London against Aussie Open in what many called the tag team match of the year. Kyle Fletcher and Mark Davis came just short of taking the titles in London, will O-Khan and Cobb finish the job in Osaka?”

NJPW has also announced a new match for Hikuleo, officially pulling NEVER Openweight Champion Karl Anderson from the Battle Autumn event.
