There has been an update on the future of a potentially scrapped WWE championship after the cancellation of a show.
It was reported recently that the WWE Speed show on X had been ‘quietly discontinued’ after matches for the show were no longer being filmed prior to Raw and SmackDown.
However, the two championships remain active on WWE’s website, with El Grande Americano and Sol Ruca reigning as the Men’s and Women’s Speed Champions respectively.
Sol recently had an interview with 10 Count, where she noted that she has also not been told about the future of the championship, but pitched that the company could do some stuff with it on NXT.
On tonight’s NXT show, it seems that the Speed Championship may indeed be set to be defended more on the NXT brand, as Sol Ruca appeared in a backstage segment with Fatal Influence, where both her and Jacy Jayne were referred to as double champions, with Sol carrying the Speed title with her.
Lainey Reid would confront Sol after Fatal Influence left, noting that Jacy ‘defends both her titles’, before Sol would respond that she has a ‘need for speed’, seemingly teasing that the title would be defended in matches again soon.
We will provide any updates on the status of the Speed Championships as they become available.
