Future WWE Dream Match Set For Tonight’s NXT WWE

Tonight’s April 11, 2023 episode of WWE NXT may well play host to what could be a future WrestleMania main event.

For the first time ever on TV, relative rookies Tiffany Stratton and Sol Ruca will go one-on-one on tonight’s show.

Stratton and Ruca were both brand new to wrestling when they were signed by WWE, but if their progress so far is anything to go by, they have the potential to be legitimate top stars on the main roster some day.

Obviously there’s seasoning to be done and that’s what NXT is for, but as far as being the total package of what a WWE star is, both Stratton and Ruca have everything they’d need at this point – in abundance – to be considered two women who could be at that top level in a few short years.

Stratton has shown a gradual and steady improvement since debuting to the point she’s one of the best women in NXT already, while Ruca was more a case of bursting into people’s lives by going viral with her Sol Snatcher finisher, but she too has stepped up in general and proved it wasn’t just a lucky one-time thing.

Stratton was actually set for a one-on-one NXT Women’s Championship match against Roxanne Perez at Stand & Deliver originally, before a health issue with Perez led to plans being changed to the multi-woman ladder match in case she wasn’t available for the show (the collapse/ambulance storyline was a cover up for real-life health concerns).

That being the original plan shows how highly Stratton’s thought of though, and we really could be looking at two women who could mix it up with the likes of Rhea Ripley and Bianca Belair at the top end of WWE in the future.

In an interesting backstory too, Stratton was actually Ruca’s first ever opponent at a house show back in June 2022. They haven’t had a match since then.

Elsewhere on tonight’s NXT, a four-way match will determine Carmelo Hayes’ first challenger for the NXT Championship – so far, the only two participants in the four-way that we know are Dragon Lee and JD McDonagh.

Chase U will also hold an ‘MVP Ceremony’ for Duke Hudson, while Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn will defend the NXT Women’s Tag Team Title in a rematch against former champions Kiana James and Fallon Henley.

Also set for NXT is Ilja Dragunov vs Von Wagner, with the stipulation that if Wagner loses, Mr Stone will no longer be his manager.
