Indie Promotion Apparently Rejected WWE’s Offer For Partnership WWE

WWE may have deep pockets, but that doesn’t mean every company wants what they’ve got to offer, no matter how “substantial” that offer may be.

GCW’s owner Brett Lauderdale has confirmed that the GCW live shows and back catalogue will be available on FITE+ on November 1, 2022.

Speaking to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, Lauderdale was asked if he thought Stephanie McMahon would “be mad” about this announcement.

Lauderdale responded with:

“Of course. I think that she’s very frustrated. She made a very substantial and healthy offer to us to bring us to Peacock.”

Sean Ross Sapp would go on to say that he is regularly asked about how this happened and revealed that his locker room sources were also being tightlipped.

Although Lauderdale refused to be drawn on how the initial discussions came about, he did say that he was invited to WrestleMania as part of attempts to win over the company owner.

Lauderdale did, however, hint that he was hopeful the arrangement with FITE wouldn’t permanently sour his relationship with WWE, saying:

“We have great relationships with people across the board in every major company.

“You could see us pop up at any time and it shouldn’t be surprising.”

It’s worth mentioning that there have been question marks about GCW personnel ‘working’ fans about the promotion’s potential relationship with WWE, but we’re just passing on what Lauderdale said in the interview and you can make of it whatever you like.
