Rumours began circulating yesterday that New Japan Pro Wrestling booker Gedo had stepped down from his role with the company before Sunday’s Dominion show. It was even believed that he could be on his way to WWE.
I don't have any other sources right now, bu if true this is HUGE NEWS!
Kakutolog, based on an article from https://t.co/x9gdW8bwc9, says that before Dominion this past Sunday Gedo stepped down as the booker of New Japan Pro Wrestling. https://t.co/D5ZWhy7zEh

Gedo has been a major part of NJPW’s backstage team for well over ten years now, taking over has head booker in 2015. He also served as Kazuchika Okada’s manager for six years from 2012-2018, and now manages former IWGP Heavyweight Champion Jay White.
Uproxx claimed in their report to have spoken to members of the NJPW backstage team, who stated that this was a “crazy rumour” and certainly not true.
On FW4online.com, Dave Meltzer has also shut down the rumours, claiming that Gedo told friends “he has no idea where [the rumour] came from”:
“The story going around about Gedo being out as New Japan booker is false. No idea where it came from but New Japan has denied it, and Gedo has told friends he has no idea where it came from.”
He also took to Twitter to say the following:
And to end the last 24 hours:
1) Gedo didn't quit
2) The people who didn't accept reality are still twisting themselves into pretzels
3) Chael Sonnen retires leaving a very complicated legacy and WWE should hire him as a heel manager— Dave Meltzer (@davemeltzerWON) June 15, 2019
It appears as if the original article was merely an opinion piece, and this has been clarified thanks to translation from the Japanese website.
I have now read the original article on https://t.co/x9gdW8bwc9. The article is mainly an opinion piece with one key sentence presented as a fact:
"As an insider noted, Gedo has already stepped down from the job (as booker)."
Thanks to @brothermort for helping translate!
