A legendary WWE star is currently a free agent.
Goldberg last competed in a WWE ring against Roman Reigns at Elimination Chamber 2022. Since then, the former Universal Champion hasn’t appeared on WWE television.
As previously reported, Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that WWE didn’t owe the WWE Hall of Famer any more matches on his contract, but the time frame of his deal hadn’t expired.
Fightful Select (subscription required) has provided an update, noting that Bill Goldberg has in fact officially been a free agent since his WWE contract expired at the end of 2022.
There has been no deal to renew or extend his contract from the company since then. It remains to be seen if Goldberg will ever return to the squared circle.
The former WCW Heavyweight Champion returned to in-ring competition in 2016 and has wrestled against Brock Lesnar, Bobby Lashley, Drew McIntyre and Braun Strowman among others in the six years that he competed off and on.
The report notes that half of the 56-year old’s matches since 2018 took place in Saudi Arabia, and all of them were either for Saudi Arabia or WWE “big four” shows. It should also be noted that there were rumors that AEW was interested in Goldberg back in 2019.
We will have further updates on Goldberg’s status when they become available.
