WWE Hall of Famer Bill Goldberg made his return during tonight’s June 16 episode of Raw in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
Back at WWE Bad Blood in his hometown of Atlanta in October, Goldberg made an appearance and got into a confrontation with Gunther.
Last week, Gunther won the World Heavyweight Championship back from Jey Uso after losing it to Uso at WrestleMania.
Tonight, Gunther came out for a celebration but was interrupted by a returning Goldberg.
Goldberg referenced the situation at Bad Blood, saying their issues started in Atlanta and he wanted to end things in Atlanta as well.
He then challenged Gunther to a match at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event, which takes place in Atlanta on July 12.
The match was later made official via an official graphic, which also confirmed that the match will be for Gunther’s World Heavyweight Championship.
However, not confirmed yet is whether this will be Goldberg’s ultimate retirement match, which will take place this year, or whether this is just the first match that will lead up to a final one some time afterwards, so we’ll keep you posted with any further updates.
Goldberg’s last match was a loss to Roman Reigns at Elimination Chamber 2022.
