Goldberg has revealed that he suffered an injury during his retirement match at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event on July 12.
The WWE Hall of Famer faced GUNTHER for the World Heavyweight Championship on the NBC special in Atlanta, Georgia.
GUNTHER would retain the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, with Goldberg going on to share his frustration about his retirement match.
Goldberg has now revealed that he suffered an injury during match during a recent episode of his CarCast podcast.
Revealing that he feels physically good, Goldberg stated he had a broken hand, saying:
“Oh yeah, yeah (I feel good physically following the retirement match).
“You can’t really tell but, my hand, I broke my hand, at some point in that match and I think today’s the first day I can see veins back in my hand. It’s not nearly as swollen as it was.
“That and… shoulder didn’t hurt, neck didn’t hurt. My knee isn’t worse.”
Goldberg would then go on to address the reaction to his comments about the match before praising GUNTHER, saying:
“All I hear is people complaining about me complaining and not many have reached the fact that it was the second-longest match I ever did in my life at 58 years old.
“Now, I could not have done it without GUNTHER. That kid is freakin’ unbelievable. I mean, it was a wonderful opportunity to be in the ring with him, and an honor, and I couldn’t have done it without him.
“Your limitations are yourself and your dance partner, and he made it happen so, it was awesome. I had a good time.”
He would then reveal that GUNTHER stayed to talk to him for “30 minutes to an hour” after their match and wished the World Heavyweight Champion a bright future.
Goldberg has also recently praised Triple H for making the retirement match possible in WWE.
