WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg has provided an update on the time frame for his confirmed retirement match in 2025.
After returning to WWE television for the first time in almost two years at the Bad Blood Premium Live Event in October, Goldberg announced one month later that he would officially be stepping back into a WWE ring one last time in 2025.
Since the former Universal Champion’s announcement there has been little update on when we can expect to see the bout, or who will stand across the ring from Goldberg when it happens.
Appearing on The Ariel Helwani Show, the 58-year-old confirmed that the plan is still to have the match in 2025.
Goldberg revealed that he is soon to be cleared to compete physically after undergoing stem cell treatment, however, he couldn’t share any concrete details as to when it would be taking place.
When asked for an update on the time frame for the match he replied:
“I don’t have any idea, I just know that I got stem cells five weeks and six days ago, and I’m cleared physically in a very short period of time.
“I haven’t been able to do much at all preparation-wise. But I think that the positives of the stem cell treatment were such a positive that it was worth me staying out of the gym for the longest period of time I ever have in my entire life and and staying away from physical activity.
“I’m going to jump in the ring and start sparring seven to eight days from now. I got to be smart about it. But yeah, 2025, it’s going to happen. And I don’t know who it’s going to be against.
“I don’t know when it’s going to be. But I guarantee you, whoever it’s against, they’re going to understand what it’s like being in there with Goldberg.”
While Goldberg admitted that he wasn’t sure on his opponent for his final match yet, he did in the same interview address the possibility of facing World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER following their tense exchange at Bad Blood.
