A top WWE star has discussed not trying to identify himself by who his wrestling character is.
Since making the jump from NXT to the WWE main roster, GUNTHER has established himself as one of the most intimidating performers in the entire industry.
The reigning Intercontinental Champion is often disrespectful to the fans and is not against using his fellow Imperium members, Ludvig Kaiser and Giovanni Vinci, to help him win matches.
Speaking with Sam Roberts, GUNTHER discussed trying to not identify himself by who his wrestling character is. He stated:
“There’s obviously different sides to this profession, like the professional person that is me and obviously there is the private person that is me.”
“Sometimes I think they don’t have that much in common, but I think that’s a healthy balance, I think at the end of the day, it doesn’t matter how much you enjoy it, it doesn’t matter how much it means to me, it is my profession, and we’ve all got to have a different side of life that has nothing to do with that.”
“I try really try to not build or identify myself, in life in general, through who I am in the ring.”
“The Ring General” has commented on the potential of headlining next year’s WrestleMania 40 event as Intercontinental Champion in a new interview, which you can read at this link.
GUNTHER recently suffered his first singles loss on the WWE main roster to Chad Gable via countout in an Intercontinental Championship match on the August 21 episode of WWE Raw.
Gable should be in line for a rematch following his win, but WWE has not confirmed if or when this bout will occur.
