Gunther has commented on a potential match with Brock Lesnar following his WWE return on this week’s Raw show.
At WrestleMania 42, Brock Lesnar seemingly retired following his loss to Oba Femi in the opening match of WrestleMania Sunday.
In the weeks following his seeming retirement, WWE removed Lesnar from the ‘Now’ section of it’s intro video, as well as moving him to the alumni section on WWE.com.
However, Lesnar would make his return on this week’s WWE Raw show, laying out Oba Femi during Oba’s open challenge, with Paul Heyman saying Lesnar had already signed a contract for a rematch with Oba at Clash In Italy.
With Lesnar now back in WWE, fans have again begun speculating about a potential retirement clash between he and Gunther, and Gunther has now commented on a potential match.
Gunther Focused On Cody Rhodes Amid Brock Lesnar Match Speculation
Speaking to the Italian Wrestling Channel, Gunther was asked about a potential clash with Brock Lesnar.
Gunther noted that he is entirely focused on Cody Rhodes ahead of Clash in Italy, but he would be open to defending the Undisputed WWE Championship against Lesnar should he win it.
He said:
“I wasn’t even there on that day at Mania, because it was the day after me, when a lot of it happened with Brock, so I only saw it in a headline and that’s literally all the info I had.
“Obviously he’s back now, but I haven’t thought about it. I’m really focused on what I’m doing with Cody now. I will be challenging for the WWE Undisputed Championship in Italy, and that’s my full focus right now.
“After I beat Cody then Brock can challenge me, and we’ll do that.”

Potential Challengers For Gunther Following Clash In Italy
With Gunther vs. Cody Rhodes taking place in Italy, we could see Gunther dethrone Cody Rhodes to become the new Undisputed WWE Champion.
Should Gunther win the title in Italy, there are a number of potential options for him to defend the title against, including a rematch with Cody potentially at SummerSlam.
There is also the aforementioned match with Brock Lesnar, as well as potential defences against names such as CM Punk, LA Knight and Jacob Fatu.
