Gunther Reveals Whether He Wants To Change Name Back To WALTER

Of all the name changes WWE has ever done, arguably the one that got the most fan backlash was changing WALTER to Gunther, with the reason being that Gunther is stupid.

Thankfully, the man himself is actually perfectly happy with the name change, and not only that, he sees it as a step up.

Speaking to Alex McCarthy, Gunther said:

“No, not really, to be honest [if the name change bothers him]. I think it felt like a step up in general, compared to who I was before, and I wouldn’t want to take that away. I think progress is always something positive and not negative, and I think it would be more negative to be like, go back to who I was before. I’ve put a lot of work into being a new person, an updated version of myself, so I wouldn’t want to take that away.”

He is currently the WWE Intercontinental Champion, had arguably the match of the night at WWE Clash at the Castle this past weekend, and is in the physical shape of his life. You may remember there were reports that Vince McMahon wanted to bury Gunther shortly before he retired. Just another of Vince’s dumb ideas.

Also, I still want him to be called WALTER.
