GUNTHER Passes Massive WWE Title Milestone Ahead Of WrestleMania 39 WWE

WWE Intercontinental Champion GUNTHER has hit a notable title milestone ahead of his three-way bout at WrestleMania 39.

GUNTHER won the Intercontinental Title on the June 10, 2022, edition of SmackDown, defeating Ricochet to win the gold.

The Imperium leader’s reign has passed many historic milestones, with GUNTHER becoming the longest reigning Intercontinental Champion of the 21st century in February.

As of Saturday (March 18), GUNTHER has held the title for 281 days. Surpassing Mr Perfect’s 280 day reign from 1990, GUNTHER is now the longest reigning IC Champ since the Honky Tonk Man’s record reign of 454 days which began in 1987.

Other than the Honky Tonk Man, there are only a handful of stars who have held the gold for longer than GUNTHER with Greg Valentine’s 285 day reign in 1984, Randy Savage’s 414 day stint in 1986, and Pedro Morales holding the title for 424 days in 1985.

Since the Honky Tonk Man’s 454 day reign however, nobody has held the gold for as long as GUNTHER has.

GUNTHER will defend the Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 39, against Sheamus and Drew McIntyre in a three-way bout.

While this match was recently teased to be the main event for WrestleMania 39 Saturday, the actual headline match has potentially been revealed.
