GUNTHER Says Popular WWE Star Would Be His Perfect Opponent WWE

Intercontinental Champion GUNTHER has revealed that he wants to wrestle Cody Rhodes again, calling him the perfect opponent.

GUNTHER and Rhodes clashed in the Royal Rumble match, in the American Nightmare’s first match back after pectoral muscle surgery in June 2022.

Both competitors made it to the final two of the Rumble, and after an extended one-on-one encounter, Rhodes eliminated GUNTHER to punch his ticket for WrestleMania 39.

Speaking on After The Bell, GUNTHER indicated that he and Rhodes have unfinished business:

“When I knew that scenario would go down with me and Cody at the end (of the Royal Rumble), I knew well, the guy was out for a little bit.

“Since then I was able to work my way up, and I was like, Okay, I have to introduce him to the new reality over here. That was kind of like my attitude going into that.

“Yeah, obviously that was just a taste I think for everybody. I think Cody is one of those guys where that’s the perfect match for me, the perfect opposite, if that makes sense.

“I think the match is right there whenever it needs to happen. If it would happen in Europe, obviously that would be fantastic.”

Rhodes previously noted that he’d want a singles match against GUNTHER in Europe.

The American Nightmare will challenge for the WWE Undisputed Universal Championship at WrestleMania 39.

Before then, Roman Reigns will defend the gold against Sami Zayn at Elimination Chamber.
