GUNTHER lost the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam, and an update has been provided on an injury.

The August 2 SummerSlam show saw GUNTHER drop the World Heavyweight Championship to CM Punk, before Punk quickly lost the title to Mr Money in the Bank Seth Rollins.

Prior to SummerSlam, Dave Meltzer reported that GUNTHER was dealing with a “nose issue”, so some fans were concerned when GUNTHER’s nose appeared to be bloody at the end of the match.

In a new update on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer reports that the WWE star is to undergo surgery soon.

Noting that the blood at the end of the match was a planned work and not an additional injury, Meltzer stated:

“I was told Gunther’s having surgery on his nose. I was told this a couple days (before SummerSlam) and it’s very clear from watching the (GUNTHER vs CM Punk) finish that Gunther’s having surgery on his nose pretty quick.

“That busted nose spot, that was 100 percent worked blood and planned.”
