Hall Of Famer Thinks AEW Partnership Does Nothing For IMPACT

A WWE Hall of Famer has criticised the partnership between IMPACT and AEW, believing that there is no upside for IMPACT.

At Rebellion, Kenny Omega defeated Rich Swann for the IMPACT World and AEW World Championships. Booker T has commented on this match, noting that he has no idea what IMPACT were thinking.

Speaking on his Hall of Fame podcast, Booker T speculated that IMPACT agreed to the partnership for the rub. Acknowledging that the moment was great for AEW, the Hall of Famer believes that losing to Omega was damaging for the home brand, as well as Swann.

Explaining that the top champion is meant to represent the promotion, Booker T stated that he would’ve never agreed to the match if he was running IMPACT.

Here is the full quote:

“I don’t know what Impact is thinking right now. Maybe they’re thinking about the rub. It’s a cool moment for AEW, it’s not a cool moment for Impact wrestling unless I own both companies and I was working the fans at the same time with both of my companies. For Rich Swann to go out and lose the title to Kenny Omega, it does absolutely nothing in my opinion (for Impact).

“Bottom line, If the champion gets beat, which is supposed to be your franchise player, your number one guy and then he goes out and gets beat. I could be wrong, but for me, if it was my company, something like that wouldn’t have gone down. That’s just me.”

Kenny Omega will compete at the Under Siege event later this month, however he will not be defending the IMPACT World Championship on the show.

Andrade made an appearance for AAA last night, calling out Omega in a video package. The former NXT Champion issued a challenge for Omega’s AAA Mega Championship for TripleMania.
