June 19 will see the city of San Diego, California honor one of their most famous stars, as they are set to celebrate Rey Mysterio Day. City councilman David Alvarez announced the ceremony, which takes place at the Council Chambers, via Twitter.

As stated in the tweet, June 19, when written entirely in numbers, reads 6/19. Of course, being the master of the “619” in the ring, it’s a no brainer Mysterio Day should fall on this date. And while it appears Rey Mysterio Day will only last for 24 hours, whereas Rusev Day is every day, this is still an incredible and well-earned honor for the San Diego native.
He is one of the most accomplished cruiserweight wrestlers on the planet, after all. His stints in WCW and WWE turned Rey into a worldwide mega-star, and his name still carries weight today. So much so, in fact, that his recent appearances for NJPW set the internet on fire. This comes over 20 years after his debut in the industry. That’s quite the impact.
