In October 2017, many fans slammed Lio Rush for posting a joke about Emma, who had just been released from the company after losing to Asuka. His comments were also said to have landed him in some hot water with WWE management.
Since then, Lio Rush has been called up to the main roster, appearing on 205 Live as well as Raw as the ‘hype man’ for Bobby Lashley.
However, Dave Meltzer has noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Lio Rush has once again earned himself some backstage heat for making it known that he believes he should be a/the top guy in WWE:
“There is internal heat on Lio Rush. On Raw this week, he wasn’t out with Lashley (neither were on Raw itself but Lashley worked the dark match main event). Rush is a very confident man. That can rub people the wrong way, even though you have to have that to be a star in this business. The story goes that he’s made it very clear to many people that he thinks he should be a/the top guy on the brand, and hasn’t been shy about saying it”.
Bobby Lashley and Lio Rush were not on TV this week on Raw, and Lashley worked the dark match with Rush by his side. It is not known at this time if Rush’s comments were the reason that neither were on TV.
