Here’s How AEW Influenced WWE To Move Venue

WWE is moving its shows from the Performance Center to the Amway Center starting with next Friday’s SmackDown, and here’s how AEW influenced the move.

On the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer explained that WWE saw the PC building as one of the reasons why its audience was dropping, hence moving to a new one.

One of the biggest concerns was why WWE was dropping but AEW wasn’t. Meltzer and Alvarez discussed this on WOR, saying:

Meltzer: “One of the reasons that they think that they’re losing ground is because of the building. It’s one thing if everybody’s losing ground but when AEW wasn’t losing ground, it’s kinda like ‘well why aren’t they’, and it’s like ‘well, our building isn’t…’

Alvarez: “Can’t possibly be the storytelling, the writing, the matches, the booking. It’s gotta be something like the building!”

Meltzer: “WWE cannot admit that they’re, you know, they can’t. How can you say, our creative with four-dozen people is getting beaten by their creative with five people? You know, you can’t say that. And novices, none of them have ever been in creative in their lives. Well I guess the Young Bucks sort of did their own angles in Ring of Honor, but they were never really heads of creative. Tony Khan wasn’t even in the business. Cody never was a booker. Kenny Omega was never a booker. So, yeah you can’t admit that, so this is the deal and we’ll see.”
