Here’s What Happened In The Dark Matches On WWE SmackDown

Here is a look at what happened in the dark matches that occured prior to last night’s (August 27) episode of WWE SmackDown.

In recent months, numerous NXT stars have been competing prior to WWE main roster shows, serving as trial runs for a potential future main roster call-up.

This trend continued ahead of last night’s show, which saw two dark matches. The first saw Cal Bloom (who is the son of former WWE star Beau Beverly, and was used as an enhancement talent in a match against Sheamus last year) defeat Austin Theory.

The second dark match before the show saw Kacy Catanzaro and Xia Li defeat Aliyah and Dakota Kai.

The main event of SmackDown saw Finn Balor interrupt Roman Reigns’ championship celebration, before he and the Street Profits fought off Reigns and the Usos.

The dark main event after the show saw Balor and the Street Profits score a victory over Reigns and the Usos in six-man tag team action.
