Here’s Why Sami Zayn Hasn’t Been Wrestling In WWE

You’ll have noticed if you’ve been watching SmackDown that Sami Zayn seems to have taken a role outside of the ring while being the cheerleader for Shinsuke Nakamura.

Despite taking the odd bump, Zayn’s wrestling time has been minimal, and according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, this is because he has been suffering from a shoulder injury.

“Zayn was having trouble with his shoulders in recent months which is why he’s been wrestling less and has been managing Nakamura. But we’re told he’s okay now and can wrestle but this is the role they have him in.”

Zayn underwent shoulder surgery last year, so it’s good to hear that his latest shoulder troubles seem to be far less serious.

He was one of very few male SmackDown stars not in Saudi Arabia for the recent Crown Jewel show. It is thought that his Syrian heritage and Syria’s unfriendly relationship with Saudi Arabia is the reason he hasn’t appeared on any of the shows.

While he is very good in his role, and in fact in any role WWE has ever given him, we sincerely hope to see him back in the ring. It feels very much as though WWE will never see him as a top star, but he’s so gifted that just seeing him back in the ring would be better than nothing.
