Hikaru Shida has been on top of All Elite Wrestling’s women’s division for a long time. She won the AEW Women’s Championship at Double or Nothing 2019 and has been unbeatable since.
Now, she has achieved another milestone. With her 278th day as champion, she has surpassed Jon Moxley as the longest-reigning champion in AEW history. Moxley had held this milestone as his own for his AEW World Championship reign which ended in December 2020.
Hikaru Shida will defend her title once again at AEW Revolution. Her challenger has yet to be decided but it will be whoever is able to win the AEW Women’s Eliminator Tournament.
Shida’s most recent title defence came against Abadon on the January 6, 2021 episode of AEW Dynamite. This is also the last match she has had of any kind.
