According to the recent Wrestling Observer Newsletter, former IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion Hiromu Takahashi is set to make a surprise return at one of NJPW’s upcoming live events. If and when Takahashi does make his appearance, it is being reported that he will be announcing a full-time return to in-ring competition.
Although the actual physical return to competition may not be happening until later this year, a big push is set to be in the works for him when he is finally ready.
Takahashi has been out of action since July last year where the 2018 Best of the Super Juniors winner defended his IWGP Junior Heavyweight Title against Dragon Lee. During the match, Hiromu suffered a broken neck following a botched Dragon Driver that nearly ended his career. He won the bout but due to the injury, the championship was later declared vacant.

Initial reports suggested that Takahashi would be out for 9-12 months. With that in mind, a return in the coming weeks seems more than likely with a full in-ring return later down the line a lot more promising.
If he is set for a big push when he does return as is being reported, current IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion Taiji Ishimori better keep a tight hold onto his title or maybe just cherish it while he still can.
