Matt Hardy has revealed how much time WWE has added onto the contract of Jeff Hardy for the time he took away for injuries and personal reasons.
Both brothers signed until March 2020, which is when Matt’s expired, but because of the time off, Jeff’s didn’t expire and WWE tacked the time onto the end.
Well, according to Matt, WWE added one year and eight months (20 months) to Jeff’s contract. Speaking with Chris Van Vliet, he said:
“What happens in WWE whenever you’re injured, Jeff had two major surgeries during his deal. He had shoulder surgery and then he had knee surgery. Then, he also had some personal time off. He had to take off and I think all together it was about a year and eight months and once that happens at WWE – if they still continue to pay you – they can freeze your contract and they froze his contract. So now, he had a year and eight months tacked on his deal as opposed to my deal. I worked all the way through without ever being injured at all so, that is why Jeff is still working there now.”
That means Jeff Hardy will be under contract with WWE until at least November 2021, obviously unless the company terminates the deal before then.
He recently won the Intercontinental Title from AJ Styles off the back of a controversial program with Sheamus which was based around his personal struggles.
