How New Japan Pro Wrestling Feels About NJPW Strong Revealed

New Japan Pro Wrestling’s American expansion was derailed by the pandemic this year. The company was forced to cancel their Wrestle Dynasty event and their tours of the United Stated stopped in February. One development the company did have stateside this year was NJPW Strong.

The weekly show debuted under the name Lions Break Collision during the Summer and featured a wide range of talent. Many were indie names who were competing for New Japan for the first time such as ‘Filthy’ Tom Lawlor and Rust Taylor. Additionally, non-Japanese talent like Jay White, Rocky Romero and Jeff Cobb also appeared on the show.

Now, Fightful Select (subscription required) is reporting that New Japan is happy with the show and the talent that has appeared on it. Additionally, the report states that Rocky Romero has been instrumental in the recruitment for the show.

It remains unclear what will become of the show when the pandemic is over. New Japan Pro Wrestling has wanted to have a proper American expansion for years and NJPW Strong could end up being the show that sticks for their American audience.
