After All Elite Wrestling (AEW) promised a major star would be debuting for the promotion, former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Christian Cage shockingly appeared as the new signing at AEW Revolution last night.
Speaking to the media after the show, AEW President Tony Khan revealed that Christian Cage will be wrestling “on a regular basis” following his shock debut at Revolution:
“He was interested in wrestling on a regular basis and he gave me a call and said, ‘I’d really like to come wrestle in AEW for you,’ and I said, ‘I really like to have you wrestle in AEW for me, that sounds awesome.’ It all came together great, and I think it’s going to be really good.”
Khan also explained that it was actually Christian Cage who contacted him first, noting that the former WWE Superstar said that he’d “like to come wrestle in AEW”.
During the media call, which you can check out below, Tony Khan also explained that the deal to get Christian Cage into AEW came together over the last few weeks, after talks with WWE reportedly collapsed.
