Following her AEW departure, a new update has emerged regarding how WWE plans to book Mariah May upon her arrival in the company.
After months of speculation regarding a potential switch to WWE, Mariah May was removed from the AEW roster page earlier today.
With it being reported that May is expected to start in WWE “in the near future”, a new update from PWNexus’ Cory Hays has shared insight into how WWE plans to use the former AEW Women’s World Champion when she officially joins the company.
In a post on Twitter, Hays wrote:
WWE views Mariah May as another major piece of the women’s division moving forward
While it’s unclear when May will sign with WWE, as well as which brand the company plans to debut her on, the English star is coming off a two year spell in AEW where she was featured in the premier angle in the women’s division.
Arriving in AEW in 2023, May started off as the protege to Timeless Toni Storm before eventually turning on her mentor after winning the 2024 women’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament.
May would then defeat Storm at All In London 2024 to win the AEW Women’s World Championship, a title she would hold for 174 days before losing it back to Storm at AEW Grand Slam Australia in February.
The pair faced off one last time at AEW Revolution in the “Hollywood Ending” match, with Storm retaining the championship in what proved to be May’s final appearance for the company.
We will provide updates on May’s potential move to WWE as/when information becomes available.
