On last night’s episode of 205 Live, General Manager Drake Maverick announced a WWE Cruiserweight Championship number one contender’s fatal four-way match for next week’s edition between Buddy Murphy, Akira Tozawa, Kalisto, and TJP.
This came about after a match between Hideo Itami and Lince Dorado descended into chaos and Maverick wanted to reward Kalisto and Tozawa for restoring order.
Maverick also said in his interview with Dasha Fuentes that Murphy had impressed him in the Australian’s previous outings during the WWE Cruiserweight Championship tournament. He picked up a win against Ariya Daivari in the first round but lost out to now-finalist Mustafa Ali in the quarter-finals.
TJP’s inclusion came about after a dominant win against former Cruiserweight Classic participant Kenneth Johnson.
The winner of next week’s fatal four-way will be the first in line for a shot at the WWE Cruiserweight Championship, which will be contended for at WrestleMania 34 by Cedric Alexander and Mustafa Ali.
Alexander picked up a win against NXT‘s Roderick Strong two weeks ago to advance to the final of the tournament, whereas Ali defeated an increasingly intense Drew Gulak last night in the main event.
All four of the participants in next week’s huge clash have held gold in WWE before, Buddy Murphy a former NXT Tag Team Champion, and TJP, Akira Tozawa and Kalsito all former WWE Cruiserweight Champions in their own right.
With that said, who do you think will win next week’s fatal four-way, and who do you think the WWE Cruiserweight Champion will be after WrestleMania? Let us know in the comments below or on Twitter here, and as always, have a spiffing Rusev Day.
