After injuring his knee in January 2018, Satoshi Kojima is set to make his return to New Japan Pro Wrestling on September 9th at the Road to Destruction tour.
The announcement was made on New Japan Pro Wrestling‘s Instagram on Thursday. Kojima is a former two-time IWGP Heavyweight Champion and a former seven-time IWGP Tag Team Champion, having won the titles six times with Hiroyoshi Tenzan and once with Manabu Nakanishi.
Kojima ruptured his ACL in January, in what was believed to have been a match with Rush. His opponent has not been announced but it is expected to be a tag team match, perhaps alongside his long-time partner Hiroyoshi Tenzan.
Kojima and Tenzan made up half of the 3rd Generation stable, which also included Manabu Nakanishi and Yuji Nagata. The four men were the stars during New Japan Pro Wrestling‘s darkest days during the mid 2000s and have since returned to roles on the lower half of the card. Tenzan has not been used since the Kizuna Road tour back in June so he may make his return soon as well.
