On last night’s episode of NXT, the black and yellow brand’s champion Aleister Black put his title on the line against Tommaso Ciampa. After a long and grueling encounter full of twists, turns, and a whole bunch of phenomenal wrestling, the ‘Psycho Killer’ managed to pull out a victory and become the 14th NXT Champion in history!
He didn’t do it alone, however, as Johnny Gargano rushed the ring following a ref bump to attack his nemesis. A fierce Superkick did the job but as he tried to pry the title away from Ciampa, who had it in-hand to use as a weapon on Black, ‘Johnny Wrestling’ accidentally smashed the ‘Dutch Destroyer’ with it anyway.
Seeing his opportunity, Ciampa threw a distracted Gargano out of the ring and landed Devil’s Wings on the champion, pinning Black one, two, three. The best true heel in wrestling now stands atop the NXT mountain, looking down upon his beaten rivals with pure joy.
With the three men involved, you can expect to see this storyline play out over the coming weeks leading up to NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn IV. Whoever does battle for the title at the event, you can be sure that it will be one for the ages.
If you want to check out what happened at the rest of the recent NXT tapings, which are, of course, FILLED WITH SPOILERS for the next few weeks, you can follow the link to our rundown here.
