Next week is set to be a pretty big week for WWE, with the Money In The Bank pay-per-view next weekend set to feature arguably the most unique and different match since… WrestleMania 36 last month.
Well, it appears as if we won’t have to wait until Money In The Bank to see any shock debuts and returns, as POST Wrestling is reporting that AJ Styles is expected to make his return to WWE TV this week on Raw. The report also notes that Styles will be involved in the Money In The Bank event in some capacity:
“AJ Styles is set to return on this Monday’s episode and is expected to be part of the Money in the Bank show that will stream on the WWE Network next weekend.”
The timing of this return is pretty interesting. This week’s Raw will feature a “Last Chance Gauntlet Match” to determine the final competitor in the Money In The Bank ladder match for the men. The spot previously belonged to Apollo Crews, however, the former NXT star had to pull out due to injury.
With Styles reportedly set to be involved in the Money In The Bank pay-per-view, it seems quite likely that WWE is going to have him win the gauntlet match and be a surprise entrant into the ladder match that will be featured on the show.
The return is pretty significant as another former WWE Champion also returned to TV this week. The man that AJ Styles beat to capture his last WWE Championship, Jinder Mahal, returned to TV for the first time in 2020 on last week’s show.
Due to his history with WWE Champion Drew McIntyre, many speculated that WWE could have Jinder win the briefcase and go after his stablemate. However, it seems like Styles is a far more likely choice to be the final participant in the match.
