Huge Star Makes Shock Royal Rumble Return

Medical science has come a long way in the past decade. This was exemplified by last year’s return of Edge at the Royal Rumble after nine years away and now, Edge’s old tag partner Christian has made his long-awaited return to the ring.

Christian made his surprise return in the men’s Royal Rumble match, entering at number 24. With the exception of a one-off appearance last Summer against Randy Orton, this was Christian’s first match since being forced into retirement in 2014.

Christian teamed up with Edge, bringing some Attitude Era flare into the match. He lasted until the final five when he and Braun Strowman were eliminated at the same time by Seth Rollins.

Christian was forced into retirement in 2014 due to a severe concussion when he won a match to become number one contender for the Intercontinental Championship. If this was more than a one-night return, maybe he can finally get his title shot against Big E. Funny enough, Big E was also the Intercontinental Champion when Christian won the title shot.

He was not the only person to make a surprise return in the Royal Rumble as Carlito took part in his first WWE match since 2010.
