Huge Title Change At NXT TakeOver: WarGames

NXT TakeOver: WarGames only featured one championship match, but what a match it was. Leon Ruff put his NXT North American Championship on the line in a Triple Threat match. As the title of this article would suggest, it didn’t go his way.

Damian Priest wasn’t interested in fighting Ruff early, instead choosing to focus on Johnny Gargano. Ruff would not go quietly and put up a hell of a fight but Gargano eventually got the win, hitting Ruff with One Last Beat.

This makes Gargano the first-ever three-time North American Champion. No one else has even won the title twice. Gargano also had the help of a group of men in Ghostface masks. Only one of the men was unmasked and it ended up being Austin Theory. One would have to believe Theory will now be a team with Gargano but we will see.

This is the second time Gargano has captured the North American title in the last five weeks. He had previously beaten Priest to win the title at Halloween Havoc before losing it to Ruff on NXT two weeks later.
