WWE appears to be trying to stack the card as best as it can for tomorrow night’s NXT show. It will be a huge night of competition for the black and gold brand as it goes up against AEW’s Anniversary Show.
NXT previously announced a Number 1 Contender‘s match for the Tag Team Championship. Now, they have announced Damian Priest will be defending his North American Championship tomorrow night as well.
Who will he be facing? Dexter Lumis will be getting his first real opportunity championship gold tomorrow night.
Aside from being one of Mayor of Painsville Dan’s favorite wrestlers, Lumis’ most recent big feud was with Roderick Strong of Undisputed Era. Additionally, he qualified for the North American Title Ladder match but missed it due to injury.

Now, he’ll get a one on one shot with Priest. Priest and Johnny Gargano had an excellent match at NXT TakeOver: 31.
Priest has been on quite the roll as of late. It would seem strange to have Lumis beat him without much of a build to it. However, we could always see a title change if WWE wanted to call-up Priest to either brand as part of post-draft moves.
SmackDown could certainly use a bit of star-power and depth. However, most likely, it will be a case of NXT potentially giving Priest a big win or starting his next program with Lumis.
