Wrestle Kingdom 14 will be the first Wrestle Kingdom event to occur over two days. As announced on the Wrestle Kingdom 13 preshow, next year’s Tokyo Dome event will take place on January 4th AND January 5th 2020.
New Japan Pro Wrestling has always run a Tokyo Dome event on January 4th but now will expand. New Japan is looking to continue to expand its horizons in 2019 and 2020. Additional details have not been revealed regarding the expanded event but will come out as the year progresses.
This will likely mean that New Japan’s annual post-Wrestle Kingdom event, New Years Dash, will take place on January 6th as opposed to the 5th. This will also mean that more matches will be able to be featured on Wrestle Kingdom 14 than ever before. Nine main card matches were scheduled for Wrestle Kingdom 13 with one match on the preshow. With two shows this number could likely double in 2020.
