Ilja Dragunov Relinquishes NXT UK Championship

A WWE star has relinquished their championship.

Ilja Dragunov has reigned as NXT UK Champion since defeating WALTER for the gold at NXT TakeOver 36 in August 2021.

It was revealed on the August 4 edition of NXT UK that Dragunov has suffered an injury that has forced him to relinquish the title.

General Manager Johnny Saint announced that there will be an eight-man tournament to determine the next champion of the brand.

The bracket features Trent Seven vs. Wolfgang, Oliver Carter vs. Charlie Dempsey, Mandrews vs. Joe Coffey and Kenny Williams vs. Tyler Bate in the first round.

The brand’s Twitter account posted a video of Ilja relinquishing the championship and wrote the following:

We wish Ilja a full and complete recovery from his injury.
