IMPACT Star Ace Austin To Enter NJPW Best Of The Super Juniors 2022? IMPACT

IMPACT X Division Champion Ace Austin could be set to enter this year’s Best of the Super Juniors 29 tournament.

IMPACT has shared Ace Austin’s first interview since last week’s Rebellion pay-per-view on social media, in which the new champion is confronted by Rocky Romero.

The NJPW name told Austin that he reckons he could get him a spot in this year’s Best of the Super Juniors line-up, before issuing a challenge to the X Division Champion for a title match next week.

The international NJPW Twitter account shared this interview segment, questioning:

Could the Inevitable Ace Austin be a part of Best of the Super Jr. 29?? #njpw #BOSJ

Austin had won the X Division Title at IMPACT Rebellion, defeating Mike Bailey and former champion Trey Miguel in a three-way bout to claim the gold.

The Best of the Super Juniors tournament has a round-robin format, with every wrestler in a block facing off against one another, guaranteeing each athlete a number of matches

In the 2020 and 2021 iterations of the tournament, which only featured one block, the two highest-scoring competitors faced off in the finals, with Hiromu Takahashi defeating El Desperado to win the tournament in 2020, and besting Yoh to win the 2021 iteration.

Previous versions of the tournament featured two blocks, with the leader of each block facing off in the finals.

The full list of competitors for the 2022 tournament has yet to be announced. Best of the Super Juniors 29 will commence on May 15, with the finals slated for June 3.
