All Elite Wrestling has recently added a pair of hot young tag teams to their ranks. Both Top Flight and The Acclaimed have made strong first impressions of late, but AEW wasn’t the only company that had interest.
On Busted Open Radio, Tommy Dreamer revealed that Brian Myers pitched Anthony Bowens and Max Caster of The Acclaimed to those in charge of Impact. Since then they have signed with AEW. Here are Bowens’ comments about the decision to go to AEW, courtesy of Fightful:
“We did have other options, that’s something that was real and aware to us. We met with Tony [Khan] and he blew us away and sold us on the idea of a tag team. Especially as two singles wrestlers who have built their whole career and learning process on singles wrestling. To say, ‘We want you guys in a tag team, something neither of you do on a regular basis.’ He was a great salesman and sold us on it. I couldn’t be happier with the decision. AEW is a great company and a great place to work. We are The Acclaimed for a reason because we do come with a lot of acclaim. Tommy just said IMPACT was considering us, other places were considering us. We picked AEW and we found a perfect name from Tony.”
After losing their first match as a team in AEW to Best Friends on Dark, The Acclaimed have strung together three straight wins.
