The IMPACT World Championship has been vacated due to injury with a new champion to be crowned in April 2023.
According to a post on the official IMPACT Wrestling Twitter account, Josh Alexander has had to relinquish the IMPACT World Championship “due to a triceps tear that will require surgery.”
With the champion unable to compete, a new champion is set to be crowned at IMPACT Wrestling Rebellion on April 16 with Steve Maclin taking on KUSHIDA for the vacant championship.
The original plan for the championship match at Rebellion would have seen Josh Alexander defending against Steve Maclin.
The news of the injury was initially shared by Busted Open Radio.
Alexander was set to team with Frankie Kazarian and Rich Swann against the team of KUSHIDA & The Motor City Machine Guns at Impact Wrestling Sacrifice.
This match will now see Maclin teaming with Swann and Kazarian.
WrestleTalk will provide further details as they emerge.
